Daydreams

LN and I had a morning at home this morning. Well, first we dropped the Mr. off at work and then went to Target...in our PJs. We weren't planning on stopping anywhere, I HATE to leave the house in my PJs, but I needed a last minute thing to finish a project I was working on and it was either go home, get dressed and go out again. OR. Just f-in' stop and pick up what we needed. So we did. Man, did we get some funny looks! I in my red, snowflake PJ bottoms and she in her teal with little birdie footie PJs. Not one of my finer moments.

But I digress.

I was putsin' around the house when I started to think about all the things I'd like to have. I was getting down to the nitty gritty stuff like more money, time, car... No my brain went a little more fantastical, here are the things that I would like to have or see happen. Please, if you have the ability to achieve any of these, this girl would be more than grateful.
  • Martha Stewart reads my blog. I went off on a wonderful daydream where Martha Stewart announced on air that she frequently reads my blog. She thinks it's wonderful! Insightful! Clever! Within the hour I have twenty thousands hits and a book deal or two.Sponsors who want to advertise. Newspaper/magazine/television interviews. Please insert Rachel Ray, the View ladies, Bonnie Hunt or any other daytime talk show celebrity. But I'd prefer Martha.
  • Toys with homing devices. I thought about this for many moments as I ran after the Tiny Toddler Tornado named Little Nib. Toys that know how to go 'home'? Can go from the floor/table/chair to the exact location that they are supposed to be? Brilliant. Let's not focus on the fact that at some point said toys could end up revolting and killing us in our beds. This is my daydream, not a science fiction novel.
  • Self washing clothes. I have wrote at length of my hatred of laundry. Why hasn't someone invented clothes that wash themselves? Or at the very least don't need washing. I pay good money if I never had to venture down to the basement in order to keep my family clean. Well, I'd still wash underwear. Somehow I don't think self-cleaning underwear would take off.
  • Live in Nanny/Personal Shopper/Housekeeper. Just someone to do all of the things that I don't want to do. Like dust. And laundry. Someone who will stay in the house in case of emergency so that the Mr. and I can go out for a drink. Someone to fix dinner when I've forgotten to or don't feel like cooking and will also run to the store when I've inadvertently run out of sugar and want to bake cookies. At midnight. Please remember that money is an issue, so the ideal candidate would work for sloppy toddler kisses, smiles, and the occasional home cooked meal. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone, right?

What/who would you like in your daydreams?

  3. If I had the money for an assistant, I would gladly send mine over to you a couple hours each day...unfortunately, I am a little short (only by a few million or so) on the cash to afford something like that.
As for the rest, if I could invent them and/or make it happen, I would. ; )

Confession #1

I don't fold and put away my clothes. Really, you'd think by the time I graduated from college, got married, bought a house and had a kid that I would be able to take care of myself. But no, there are still a number of things that I can't seem to get the hang of. Like laundry. Well, that's not true. I actually don't mind doing laundry. Washing and drying clothes is no big deal. (Let's not point out that a machine takes care all of it...shall we?) Even un-organized me has a day that I do laundry. Monday. Now granted, it is Tuesday and the first load went in about twenty minutes ago, but hey, I did bring it downstairs yesterday! The washing machine does it's job, the dryer theirs. So the laundry is done, it's been brought upstairs and I pile it on the bed in a overly idealistic display of domesticity; where it sits all day until the guy goes to bed and pushes it onto the floor. Now, if it's started out to be a good day, the pile will end up o

Five Things Friday- Summer Drinks

Hello good peeps!  It's currently 79 degrees in sunny Minneapolis and I think it's high time I shared my favorite summer drinks with you.  Whether you are chilling on a patio, sipping around a campfire or simply sitting in front of your A/C, here are five tasty, cool, refreshing drinks for your  pleasure.  What about you?  What do you imbibe in the summer? Moscow Mule :  I had this for the first time at the beginning of summer and it is just about perfect.  Ginger beer (not ginger ale), vodka and lime come together to form the most refreshing drink you can have on a patio.  Sweet, spicy, with a nice little kick. Surly's Cynic Ale :  A light colored ale with a nice kick at the end.  I could drink pints and pints of this brew.  It's the ideal beer for a back yard BBQ. Arnold Palmer :  Part tart lemonade, part sweet iced tea.  Love this combination in the summer time, especially in the afternoons!  Nothing like a little caffeine kick to get you through the rest of a

I Did It!

Yep, that's right. I am a student again! A few weeks ago I started receiving emails from the Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) department at Hamline. They looked like mass emails about job openings and announcements. It was either a cruel joke or I had been admitted but not received my acceptance letter. After two days of emails and two days of trying not to get excited I finally called at 4:55 one afternoon (the office closes at 5). I told the woman on the phone that either Hamline was very good at playing cruel jokes on prospective students, or was I really admitted? She laughed and said, "Congratulations, you are a grad student." A grad student!? I'm a grad student! So I hurriedly filled out my FAFSA and got to worrying about how I was going to pay for it. Then Friday I got my Financial Aid info and sure enough, the government is more than happy for me to add onto my student loan debt. Now just to figure out how to reorganize my time to study, find a prog
