The Weekend- Sept. 5-7


So here we are, it's Labor Day* and starting Tuesday I no longer can break out my whites. Wait, like I trust myself enough to buy (and wear!) anything white, besides T-Shirts. But we are at what many believe to be the last week of Summer. Schools are starting, the air is becoming more cool and we have just a little bit less sunshine everyday. But let us not forget that it is still a three day weekend! Yoo-hoo! As for us, we have almost nothing planned. Quite a rarity I assure you. Here is a sampling of things we MIGHT do, if we feel so inclined:

  • Nap
  • Take a walk around the Stone Arch Bridge, one of our very favorite spots
  • Visit the parents
  • Pick some apples
  • Have a bonfire
  • Drink lattes (really, we do this every weekend, but these are the last of summer!)
  • Take some pictures
  • Generally be lazy and enjoy some much needed time off
  • Camping?
So there you have it. The end of summer. I know I will get some kick back on singing Summer's death toll, but let's face it, once mid-September hits it is cardigan and scarf time! Except for those Indian Summer days, sigh, such beautiful, beautiful days.


So, in the spirit of trying new features out for this here blog I am excited to add polls. A poll you say? Yes, polls, for all of you out there in cyber-land that would love to interact, but are to Mid-Western to. I will feature a different poll each week and we'll just see where it takes us from there. I have a few ideas of things I can do with these polls, but we'll see what the response is first.

* A little Labor Day history. Labor Day became a national holiday in 1882 ,"It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country." Well deserved I think. It's just too bad that not EVERYONE can have the day off. But then again, no one asked me. :)

    Minnetonka Orchards has a bunch of free kid friendly stuff going on -- it's their open house weekend. We're going tomorrow. Hay ride, corn maze, free apple smores, etc.

    That sounds like fun Rachel! Have you checked out Gale Woods Farm? There's a link from post last Friday. AWESOME. I'm sure Evan would love it. :)

Although I've been away from this space for quite some time I was surprised to see that people were still reading it.  Go me!  So, although I am not going to be blogging in this space for much longer, I'm going to leave it up for the time being.  If nothing else as a way for people to find me in my next space. A Giveaway, A Giveaway!

Well fellow inter-friends, I was going to post today about my experience with the Wii Fit. However, upon looking at my post number I realized that today was post #95. Which means that I get to announce the nifty little giveaway I have planned for post #100. Giveaway you say? Oh yes, just keep reading folks. I'm not going to get too introspective and sentimental today. After all, I have to leave myself something to write for the hundredth post. I'm excited that I made it this far. When I started out I really, really hoped that I'd actually write in this space and feel motivated enough to keep writing here. And I do! Lady in the Sky, With Broccoli

We've had a whirlwind, chaotic, hectic, exciting week.  It was a week of fixes, car naps, quick meals and heat.  Oh, the heat!  I finally feel like today we had the chance to tone things down and take a breath.  The Little Lady and I were left to our devices for the evening while the Mr. took a much deserved night off.  We had a light dinner and then went outside for our favorite pre-bed activity, Bubble Chasing.  (Well, she chases, I blow).  The following conversation ensued. Laying in the grass: MP: Hey LL, look at all those clouds! LL:  Yeah mom, clouds. MP:  What do you see up there?  I see bunny ears! LL:  They just puffy mama. MP: (Humph, this might not work...) LL:  Mama, I see Lady! MP: (Getting excited)  That's great, what's she doing? LL:  Lady in Sky, with Broccoli.  I like Broccoli! MP: Well, yes, it does look like broccoli.  What else do you see? LL:  Poop in a glass.  Ha...
