The Skinny

Warning: This post may be a bit discombobulated.
Kind of like my brain at the moment.

So here's the skinny. It's the Holiday season. I'm tired. I'm busy. And sometimes I forget to update my blog. Ok, it only happened twice (!) this week, but I'm pretty sure that it's going to happen a few more times this month. It's just the way the Christmas cookie crumbles.

It's snowing outside!

(My house, doesn't look like this.)

The stuff for my Holiday cards are all ready. Photos, check. Envelopes, check. Cool pen that makes addressing a hundred cards fun, check. Stamps, check. Now all I need is my lovely ladies to come over for a little Card Writing Party! Yep, to avoid the hours of bad TV I usually watch while addressing cards, this year I'm having some of my lovely ladies over for some noshing and chatting. Hopefully it will make the time (and the cards) fly by!

(Aren't these cute?!)

I haven't even started Christmas shopping. I think I know what I'm getting everyone, but it has yet to appear all prettily wrapped underneath my tree.

Wait, the tree has yet to appear too.

We have a jam-packed, action filled weekend. Tomorrow morning we're headed to No Coast Craft-o-rama, we go every year and I think that's where I'll find gifts for my brother's girlfriend and the Mrs. Clone. Then the Mr. will take LN to a puppet show at In the Heart of the Beast theatre. Which is conveniently located about two blocks from where the market is. Sweet! Sunday we have a birthday brunch for a sweet three year old friend of LN's and then I'm headed to the Mr.'s aunt's house to learn how to make a fun gift that I'll be giving out this year. Yay! Hopefully in there we'll make some cookies and maybe some fudge too. Yipee!

Now I'm off to make some Chicken Tetrazzini for my dear, dear friend who just had a darling baby girl yesterday. Welcome Baby J! The little lady and I get to go over for a visit post-nap. (Don't worry honey, I don't have the Baby Ya-Yas yet!)

So Happy Holiday Friday to everyone! Leave me a note and let me know what you're up to this weekend. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be fun!

  1. Hey MP,

We're going to the founder's Day at AUN today. The founder is the former VP of Nigeria. Later the Prof is giving some of his final presentations. On Sunday we do this thing called "Quiz Night" where we break into teams and someone is the moderator and comes up with questions and we play. Oh and I have to grade, grade, grade and prep... I cannot wait for Egypt.

Confession #1

I don't fold and put away my clothes. Really, you'd think by the time I graduated from college, got married, bought a house and had a kid that I would be able to take care of myself. But no, there are still a number of things that I can't seem to get the hang of. Like laundry. Well, that's not true. I actually don't mind doing laundry. Washing and drying clothes is no big deal. (Let's not point out that a machine takes care all of it...shall we?) Even un-organized me has a day that I do laundry. Monday. Now granted, it is Tuesday and the first load went in about twenty minutes ago, but hey, I did bring it downstairs yesterday! The washing machine does it's job, the dryer theirs. So the laundry is done, it's been brought upstairs and I pile it on the bed in a overly idealistic display of domesticity; where it sits all day until the guy goes to bed and pushes it onto the floor. Now, if it's started out to be a good day, the pile will end up o

Five Things Friday- Summer Drinks

Hello good peeps!  It's currently 79 degrees in sunny Minneapolis and I think it's high time I shared my favorite summer drinks with you.  Whether you are chilling on a patio, sipping around a campfire or simply sitting in front of your A/C, here are five tasty, cool, refreshing drinks for your  pleasure.  What about you?  What do you imbibe in the summer? Moscow Mule :  I had this for the first time at the beginning of summer and it is just about perfect.  Ginger beer (not ginger ale), vodka and lime come together to form the most refreshing drink you can have on a patio.  Sweet, spicy, with a nice little kick. Surly's Cynic Ale :  A light colored ale with a nice kick at the end.  I could drink pints and pints of this brew.  It's the ideal beer for a back yard BBQ. Arnold Palmer :  Part tart lemonade, part sweet iced tea.  Love this combination in the summer time, especially in the afternoons!  Nothing like a little caffeine kick to get you through the rest of a

A Giveaway, A Giveaway!

Well fellow inter-friends, I was going to post today about my experience with the Wii Fit. However, upon looking at my post number I realized that today was post #95. Which means that I get to announce the nifty little giveaway I have planned for post #100. Giveaway you say? Oh yes, just keep reading folks. I'm not going to get too introspective and sentimental today. After all, I have to leave myself something to write for the hundredth post. I'm excited that I made it this far. When I started out I really, really hoped that I'd actually write in this space and feel motivated enough to keep writing here. And I do! I like having something to do everyday that is for me, and really (sorry to disappoint you) only me. We can discuss this at more length next week, when I've actually made it to one hundred. So, the details. I want to know more about who you are. Yes, you! The people that come and read my stuff everyday. Or every week. Heck, if you're just pa
