Four Years

Today the Mr. and I have been married four years. Whew! We've both been fighting this nasty flu bug and have had barely even a second to think about it. Since I'm not one prone to sappy sentiments and overly long displays of love and affection I thought that I would offer you a quick list of four things about the Mr. and I:

  1. We've had four official addresses: Well five if you count the sh*t hole of an apartment the Mr. had before we moved in together officially. So we lived in the cute St. Cloud house that was conveniently located equidistant from campus and the bar (and both of our jobs). From there we moved to our swanky Chinese apartment on campus in Shaoxing. Two bedroom, two bath and complete with security guards and two Western toilets. Then we moved into his parents basement. Much nicer than you'd think and stayed while we figured out what the heck we were going to do. Pregnant, jobless and recently home from China. Five months later we moved into our present house. Perfect in every way; not too big and not too small with just enough space for the three of us.
  2. We are addicted to Netflix. The Mr. and I don't have cable. In fact we haven't had cable almost the entire time we've been together. Hot Fridays nights are when we dog sit for his parents and can watch the History Channel and Food Network to our hearts content. So we found a replacement in Netflix and watching COMPLETE television series. Here's a selection of the series we've watched: Six Feet Under, Scrubs, Bones, Battlestar Galactica, True Blood, The Office (both versions), Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother, Chuck, The Tudors, Weeds, etc, etc.
  3. We both have a bad case of Wanderlust. We have itchy feet. BAD. We're always on the lookout for our next place. We love our families dearly and love the relationship LN has with her grandparents and cousins, but...but... Places we have seriously considered moving: Portland, OR, Ankara, Turkey, Shaoxing, China, Hangzhou, China, London, England, Bern, Switzerland and that's just off the top of my head.
  4. We're both fiercely independent/stubborn. I would say to a fault if I didn't love this fact about both of us. Now it leads to much squabbling; but also to much respect and space. We leave plenty of time for each other to do our own thing AND spend time together. The Mr. has his writing classes and I have my nights out. Together with dates and Family Time with LN we're kept pretty busy.

Thanks Mr. Here's to at least fourty-four more.

Now You See Me, Later You Won't

Although I've been away from this space for quite some time I was surprised to see that people were still reading it.  Go me!  So, although I am not going to be blogging in this space for much longer, I'm going to leave it up for the time being.  If nothing else as a way for people to find me in my next space. Next space you say?  Yes, I'm moving.  When I started this blog things were very different from what they are now.  I thought we were moving abroad much sooner, I was not going to school and there were no definite plans for a second baby.  That being said, the last few months I felt like I was not able to really be comfortable in this space.  So I'm opting to move someplace else, under a different blog name and start again.  I really hope that you will move over with me; I've so enjoyed having you along for the ride! So, sometime soon I will post about my new digs.  As soon as I find the time to put something up over...

A Giveaway, A Giveaway!

Well fellow inter-friends, I was going to post today about my experience with the Wii Fit. However, upon looking at my post number I realized that today was post #95. Which means that I get to announce the nifty little giveaway I have planned for post #100. Giveaway you say? Oh yes, just keep reading folks. I'm not going to get too introspective and sentimental today. After all, I have to leave myself something to write for the hundredth post. I'm excited that I made it this far. When I started out I really, really hoped that I'd actually write in this space and feel motivated enough to keep writing here. And I do! I like having something to do everyday that is for me, and really (sorry to disappoint you) only me. We can discuss this at more length next week, when I've actually made it to one hundred. So, the details. I want to know more about who you are. Yes, you! The people that come and read my stuff everyday. Or every week. Heck, if you're just pa...

Lady in the Sky, With Broccoli

We've had a whirlwind, chaotic, hectic, exciting week.  It was a week of fixes, car naps, quick meals and heat.  Oh, the heat!  I finally feel like today we had the chance to tone things down and take a breath.  The Little Lady and I were left to our devices for the evening while the Mr. took a much deserved night off.  We had a light dinner and then went outside for our favorite pre-bed activity, Bubble Chasing.  (Well, she chases, I blow).  The following conversation ensued. Laying in the grass: MP: Hey LL, look at all those clouds! LL:  Yeah mom, clouds. MP:  What do you see up there?  I see bunny ears! LL:  They just puffy mama. MP: (Humph, this might not work...) LL:  Mama, I see Lady! MP: (Getting excited)  That's great, what's she doing? LL:  Lady in Sky, with Broccoli.  I like Broccoli! MP: Well, yes, it does look like broccoli.  What else do you see? LL:  Poop in a glass.  Ha...
